From initial consultation to discharge from the physiotherapy department the whole process of replacing my hip could not be faulted and considering the surgery, I had very little pain. Mr Spiegelberg was very approachable and informative throughout.
Mr Spiegelberg was honest after the operation and gave me confidence going forward.
The operation was completely successful and activities that previously I found difficult and painful are now no problem.

I'm really pleased to have chosen Mr.Spiegelberg to do my hip replacement. Eleven weeks post op my hip feels perfectly secure. I am virtually pain free. I'm back to walking and gardening, and about to fly abroad on holiday which hasn't felt possible for many a long day. Aside from his 'technical' expertise I found Mr.S attentive, friendly and approachable. My husband and myself never felt rushed by him, and he answered every query we had. It was especially important to me that, at my request, he scheduled my op as quickly as possible, taking into account other medical conditions I have. A great big thank you! Jenny Hill

Mr. Speigelberg is an excellent Orthopaedic doctor/surgeon, he went though absolutely everything with me, listening to what I thought and wanted at the same time. the treatment and advice that he gave me work perfectly and he made it clear that I could come back to him at anytime if things work not working as they should . I would definitely be comfortable and happy to go to this doctor if ever the need arose.

I wanted to write this review for the excellent medical service and surgery I have received from Mr Spiegelberg. I landed in his office following several years of progressive hip bone degeneration to the point I had begun walking sideways and with one leg becoming distinctly shorter than the other causing a very much pronounced limp. I finally realised I needed help and just like you, researched it for several hours, days, months. I ‘limped’ into Mr Spiegelberg’s consulting room knowing exactly what I wanted, or did I ! I stated my issues and listened to all the pro’s and con’s that he gently went through with me, taking time to explain in great detail and suggested I go away and assimilate our discussion before progressing. I thought over our discussion, it was a life changing procedure after all, and decided a surgeon that cares this much about his patients would not fail me and went back and agreed to the surgery, total hip replacement. The care and attention I received throughout this process is nothing less than amazing. I did not feel like I was just another patient, I felt like an individual whose mental and physical well-being mattered. The caring and concern did not stop with the operation, it seemed to be as important to Mr Spiegelberg as it was to me that not only was I no longer in pain but my legs were the same length and that I could walk straight without a limp and, just as important, that my expectations were met. As you are reading this, I am sure you can identify with most of it and, having gone through it, my only advice would be to choose your surgeon for all the right reasons, not just for statistics; make sure they have time for you and your personal concerns; it will make a significant difference to the quality and speed of your recovery ! Mr Spiegelberg has now discharged me from his care but I know I will see him again….. I still have another hip !

Mr. Ben Spiegelberg is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in adult hip and knee surgery. He underwent specialist training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and subsequent Specialist Registrar training on the Oxford registrar rotation centred at Oxford University. He spent a year in Canada on the internationally renowned University of Western Ontario Adult Reconstruction Fellowship program prior to being appointed Consultant at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Spiegelberg sees and treats many orthopaedic conditions and fractures. His sub-specialty interests are hip and knee surgery, including knee and hip replacement, partial knee replacement, arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), cartilage transplantation and revision (redo) joint replacements.
